Photography

We sell high quality images (both as files and prints) of the photographs in our gallery. Charles Minster also accepts photography commissions. We will be pleased to discuss your needs and provide you with an estimate of costs.

THE STYLE

Portraits should capture a personality, feeling, character or emotion. A beautiful photograph is there forever. We change so quickly and of course children in their growing years almost change before our eyes.

THE PHOTO SESSION

Most sessions take approximately 1-2 hours, I try to allow the session to just “happen” without forcing a pace. I like my subjects to tell me what they want to and from their try and guide them into looks and expressions that I may be looking for. 

No two sessions are the same. If I’m shooting exterior I generally prefer the early or late sun, better still a hazy day is great for portraiture. 

WARDROBE

I prefer simple clothes, ones that don’t distract from the sitter. Neutral colours like whites, materials like denim are good. Unless a particular costume is chosen I like to see a clear neck line (particularly on girls and young women). For large groups colour co-ordination should be discussed prior to the shoot. 

AFTER THE PHOTO SESSION

I will make an initial choice of images. I may do some work on these pictures if I’m seeking a particular visual style. You will be invited view these pictures to make a choice of what images you’d like for enlargement. You may also view lo resolution picture either on the net or on a cd that I will give you. 

COSTS

A sitting fee of $150 for a 2 hour session applies and must be paid at the time of the sitting.

Print costs start at about $60 for the first print. My preferred finish is printing on canvas and block mounting the photograph. When we meet I’ll show you examples of photo finishes. A finished block mounted photo (16"x20") will cost approximately $140.
